02/03/2026Clinical and innovation teams strengthen skills in ethical, inclusive, and responsible health innovation
Barleti Medical Group (BMG), through its STAMINA Living Lab, successfully delivered a dedicated training session on Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI) as part of the PEARL-Lab project.
The session was delivered by Patricia Ripoll, who leads the patient advocacy NGO Fundacion Visible and represents the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), a key partner in the project. She provided expert guidance on integrating ORRI principles into clinical research, patient engagement, and real-world innovation settings.
The session brought together clinical staff from the Barleti University Polyclinic, the Home Health Agency, and members of the STAMINA Living Lab, fostering collaboration across care delivery, research, and innovation functions.
The training focused on strengthening BMG’s capacity to implement structured, ethical, and inclusive patient engagement practices in the development and evaluation of digital health, medtech, and home-based care solutions. Key areas covered included:
- Principles of ORRI and their application in healthcare innovation
- Multi-stakeholder engagement and co-creation methodologies
- Ethical considerations in research settings
- Inclusion, diversity, and representation in living lab activities
- Managing power dynamics between patients, clinicians, and technology developers
This activity represents an important step in embedding ORRI principles within BMG’s operational workflows. It directly supports upcoming co-creation workshops and pilot activities within the PEARL-Lab project, where patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals will collaboratively shape and evaluate innovation solutions.
By strengthening internal capacity, Barleti Medical Group continues to position itself as a leading actor in responsible health innovation in Albania, bridging clinical practice with research, technology, and patient-centered design.
