Barleti Medical Group (BMG), in collaboration with Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona), presented the paper “Organizational Foundations for Participatory Innovation in Healthcare Living Labs” at the conference organized by Barleti University and AKKSHI.
The presentation is part of the ongoing PEARL-Lab project focused on Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI), patient engagement, and participatory healthcare innovation funded by the European Commission Horizon project REINFORCING.
About the Presentation:
The paper explores the organizational and operational challenges involved in planning participatory stakeholder engagement sessions within healthcare living labs. The work examines how healthcare organizations can prepare for meaningful co-creation activities while balancing:
- patient participation and institutional realities,
- inclusiveness and operational feasibility,
- ethical engagement and implementation requirements,
- and psychological safety during stakeholder discussions.
The presentation highlighted the importance of organizational preparation prior to the implementation of participatory innovation activities and reflects growing interest in implementation-oriented healthcare innovation and Living Lab methodologies across Europe.
